If I could write a sonnet about my love for Lara Jean’s style, I wouldn’t have enough words to describe how iconic her outfits were. We’ve all had “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” on repeat since its release this summer, and collectively sighed over Lara Jean and Peter Kravinsky’s love story, played by Lana Condor and Noah Centineo respectively. But the only thing that was better than their #relationshipgoals was the costume department’s vision for Lara Jean’s closet.
What makes Lara Jean’s style so iconic is the fact that it’s so real. She dresses just like us; she doesn’t need a $5000 hair scrunchie to look trendy. Everything she wears in the movie could have easily been picked up from your local department store. That’s one of many aspects that makes her character so relatable (aside from the fact that she’s a strong female character and a woman of color!).
Here’s how you can steal her style and write an open letter to every outfit you loved from the movie. This is right on time for DIY halloween costumes season!
1. Striped tee and overalls
2. Striped turtleneck with denim button-up skirt
If you prefer thinner stripes…
3. Polka-dot dress and mustard beret
4. Blush bomber jacket and floral dress
5. Cream Mock Neck Top and Red Button-up Skirt
6. Plaid Shirt, High Waisted Shorts and Vintage Boots
This outfit goes above our $50 budget but is completely worth the splurge.
*Getting a men’s plaid shirt will make it easier to tie the ends together for a relaxed, cropped look.
