Thanksgiving is almost here, which means there are two situations you need to prepare for: How to successfully avoid those awkward conversations about your love life, and figuring out what to wear.
Even though you don’t have concrete plans on how you will be celebrating the holidays, you want to make sure that your outfit is cute enough to impress your family and comfortable enough to go for seconds. For the past three consecutive Thanksgivings, I’ve fallen into the habit of wearing the same exact outfit in rotating colors: Sweater, leggings, boots, repeat. It didn’t matter what my plans were.
During my last Thanksgiving break, I watched “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life”. I couldn’t get over how flawless all of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore’s outfits were. Ironically, their fall style inspired me to break out of my comfort zone and spice up my holiday look.
Here’s how you can add a little more Gilmore into your closet and copy these cozy, trendy, and inexpensive Thanksgiving outfits. The best part is that they are perfect for every Thanksgiving occasion!
1. If you’re mentally preparing yourself for a food coma…
Give yourself some breathing room with these loose, 90s style overalls. I love that Lorelai wears them with a simple striped top. Incorporate warm, fall colors into your outfit with an olive striped henley.

This was my favorite look of the entire series. I love the sharp contrast between the black and white lace. Although the dresses below aren’t an exact match with the one Rory wore, they’re made from similar material and are just as sexy! You can dress this look up or down depending on your venue.

Bundle up with this tan wool coat. Rory’s Burberry coat actually costs close to $2,000, which makes this coat a total steal!
